INTERVIEW: Jack & Jordan

Jack & Jordan chat to us about how they got started in the 'biz, the Persian Sasanian Empire, and why you NEED to come see their show in Bath Fringe 2023!

How would you describe your ‘Origin Story’ – how did you get started ‘in the business’ and what is it about performing that keeps you going?

We met way back in 2010 when we were merely 12 years old. Since then we set off on a mission to make each other laugh on a daily basis until one day we realised we could probably monetise it. And so we did. We trained at University together and now we’re out the other side and touring work professionally. And still making each other laugh.

Tell us a little bit about your Bath Fringe 2023 Show

A Sketch Show is a 75 minute fast-paced in-your-face Sketch Comedy BONANZA that will leave you questioning what’s real, what’s not and how on Earth did Jack consume that amount of liquid so quick?! Featuring an encounter with a confused elderly Yorkshireman recounting the horrors of war, dance routines that will make you weep and a man who insists he is not guilty of murder (he insists).

What is it about Fringe Theatre that excites you?

It’s a great opportunity to get out and see work that ordinarily you may never see. It’s also exciting to watch smaller companies tackle theatrical ideas in creative ways on limited budgets.

What is your favourite thing to do in Bath when you’re not performing?

There’s lots of nice green spaces to chill out in. Have a Bath as well. Coffee shops a plenty. Culture, baby!

What advice would you give to people just starting out?

Just go for it! Show your work to people and listen to what they say. Network, write, market, exclusively drink lucozade sport - all key components to life as an early career artist/company!

In an alternate universe, what career path might you have followed?

We’ve spoken about this plenty of times, and we’ve come to the conclusion that if we weren’t Sketch Comedy Superstars, we would love to have been Shepherds in the Persian Sasanian Empire circa 450 AD. Mmm, Persian Sheep!

If you were a Bath landmark, what would you be and why?

Jordan would be the plughole, Jack would be the grouting between the tiles. Gotta keep ‘em clean!
