SPOTLIGHT: The Rondo Theatre

The Rondo Theatre's Artistic Director, Ian McGlynn, gives us his top picks of things to see in Bath Fringe 2023.

My name is Ian. I do anything and everything, from booking the shows to cleaning the loos. Running a fringe venue like the Rondo means that everyone is very hands-on - we all do lots of different tasks, supporting each other and picking up each other's roles when necessary. It's a bit like total football for theatre!

My Top Three Shows to See!

Jack & Jordan are brilliant sketch comedians - they played here last year to about ten people, but everybody raved about them and said how funny they were - including our fab bar volunteers, who see a lot of comedy, and know what's genuinely good! This is the show I'd beg everybody to take a risk on.

Patrick Duff is a brilliant musician and singer - he was with the band Strangelove - and he's done some fantastic solo material. He's so irritatingly talented, that he's written a rather amazing book, "The Singer", about his life and times. This is the show with the actual genius in the room.

Boorish Trumpson is a clowning style show from Lecoq trained Claire Parry, featuring a script of actual quotes from Boris Johnson and Donald Trump. Expect biting satire wrapped up in physical comedy from one of the best clowns around. No red noses here! Plus, if you fancy it, Claire's doing a FREE workshop earlier on in the day (booking required). This is the show where you can gasp at the virtuosity!

The Rondo Theatre can be found in the centre of Bath's Larkhall village. Check out What's On at The Rondo in Bath Fringe Festival 2023 HERE.
