Saturday 9 June 2024 - The Rondo Theatre, Bath
How to characterise a show in which the protagonist comedian Catherine Bohart begins and (almost) ends with a tale of being on a bus while carrying a dead squirrel? Well, it might defy easy characterisation but the audience at the Rondo were lapping up an amusingly-observed evening of age-gap relationship stories and the expectations of traditional Irish parents.
Interaction with the audience members provided a fair few laughs, including some at the expense of hapless Kevin who said he would be willing to bear a child - if it were possible - as some women ‘weren't up to it’. CB is slick without being glib, and winningly sassy. A love of gossip was notable, and her asides were fun, including one about fellow-drama school students ‘singing things you could simply say’.
Red-faced, straight-laced uncles should probably stay away. Otherwise try and catch CB if you can. Her nationwide tour continues until 10 October 2024
